[Movies] Willem Dafoe Almost Played Batman

AND The Joker...
Willem Dafoe recently told MTV that he was considered for the roles of The Joker AND Batman himself for the 1989 Batman film.
"Very early, they talked to me about playing Batman," he said. "I hate to spread these things because unless you remember it well, you're stoking the fires of bulls*** ... But I remember [it]. I've had my brush with these things."
Michael Keaton ended up in the lead role in the film while Jack Nicholson played The Joker.
Would Batman been a better film had Dafoe been cast as Batman or The Joker?
not the movie was fine except the lack of Bat nipples

Keaton was awesome as the first batman...I'd have prefered Dafoe for the sandman.

How would Dafoe have played Sandman when he was the Goblin?

keaton and bale are the best batmans in their own way,
clooney and kilmer were horrible

Dafoe would have been great as the Joker in both the Burton and Logan versions.

Had they opted to do the Scarecrow in one of the Tim Burton movies, that would've been the perfect role for Dafoe. He carries himself with an air of intellect and can play smug superiority well, plus he's got the perfect voice for a guy who inspires fear-induced trauma.

Dafoe would kick-ass as the older Joker in a DARK KNIGHT RETURNS movie. Him or Daniel Day-Lewis.
I want that movie made so badly.

Nah, Keaton and Nicholson were perfect.

Dafoe would have rocked as Joker without bringing the Jack ego with it.

Dafoe should play Mad Hatter now. He is the man though. Liked him ever since Platoon.

Church was fine as Sandman, it's just that the Venom story pooped all over that movie. I could see Dafoe as Joker, but he would have been a poor choice for Batman.

He would have made an ok Joker I suppose buy definitely NOT Batman. I could see him as a good Scarecrow though.

couldn't see him as batman/bruce wayne,
but he would make an interesting joker. The guy is just so creepy all I can think of him now is playing John CAarpenter in Auto Focus

Dafoe would have been awesome as The Joker, don't know if I could see him as batman, but I know everyone said the same about Michael Keaton

He would have been a good Scarecrow

Dafoe is awesome in everything. He might have been a better Batman, Keaton was great though. Nicholson was fantastic as Joker, should have been thinner though- just saying.

I was able to actually tolerate Kilmer. His Bruce Wayne was horrible but I did love his Batman.

No big deal, I had a Willem Dafoe under my bed once.

Great actor not sure how he would be as Bruce Wayne. Jack was guaranteed the roll of Joker since birth.
